TRAVEL
HAWAII 2019
After I travelled to Fiji I decided to travel Hawaii for 10 days. I flew back to Sydney and then from Sydney to Hawaii. The flight was about 300 AUD. I travelled with a friend. We flew to Honolulu, which is on the Island Oahu. We stayed on that Island for the whole period of time.
Seaside Hawaiian Hostel
We stayed at the seaside Hawaiian hostel which was really nice! The owner of the hostel was really friendly and the rooms were nice and clean. We had a huge common kitchen and met a lot of people there. The location of the hostel was great. It was in Waikiki and not that far from the beach. The price was also relatively cheap.
This is the view when you walk out of the hostel courtyard. You already can see the beautiful palm trees. I loved it!
Bus Tour
On our first day we booked a bus tour to explore the nature of Oahu. It was really nice seeing those green hills, which are typical for Hawaii. We also stoped at a beach where we saw turtles. It was a nice trip but it was very expensive. Thats why I would recommend traveling around the island with the public bus. You will be able to see a lot for less money.
Koko Crater Railway Trail
What I can definitely recommend is the koko crater railway trail. It is a hike up an old railway trail up a hill. For me it was really exhausting to climb up there, especially because of the hot weather but it was totally worth it! The view was just breathtaking! But don’t forget to bring enough water. And trust me 500 ml aren’t enough! :D
Hanauma Bay
Hanauma Bay is a must do for your Oahu island itinerary. It is one of the premier destinations on Oahu if you want to get acquainted with hundreds of tropical fish and marine life. It offers an overall great experience whether your a beginner or an avid snorkeler. It costs about 25$ to get access to the beach, but you can spent all day there.
Waikiki Beach
For all the surfers out there Waikiki Beach is the place to be. Especially when you stay near the city on Oahu. There are a lot of people with their surfboards in the sea. We also rent surfboards from our hostel and tried our best to stand on the board. I’ve already done a surf course in Sydney and I have to say it was a bit easier there than on Hawaii. But maybe the reason for it is that I didn’t have a teacher this time :D
Waikiki City
Waikiki is the most beautiful city I have ever seen. I love the beach vibe and all these nice huge palm trees. There are also a lot of cute restaurants and shops. It doesn’t matter if it’s day or night time, it is just nice walking around there and enjoying the Hawaiian flair.
Conclusion
Hawaii is really beautiful. The island has a lot to offer, whether it's surfing, hiking, shopping or just lying on the beach and enjoying the sun. There is something for everyone. I would definitely like to travel to Hawaii again and then visit the other islands in the archipelago like maui.
